Dance Workshop
In collaboration with members of Risa Jaroslow & Dancers, class participants use simple dance movements and storytelling to explore ways to find wholeness in their lives. Most movement activities for people with disabilities are approached as therapy. At the IWD, they are approached as creating art in a professional, supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere. Dance is a means for personal expression and a powerful opportunity is created for class members to define their strengths and areas of growth.
The benefits of the IWD Dance Workshop are:
- Physical activity that is both gentle and challenging.
- The chance to stretch, bend, breathe, connect, talk, laugh, think, feel, and move.
- An opportunity to create dance based on your own life's experiences, thoughts and emotions.
- The ability to work with others in a community of understanding to create a performance and present it to a larger audience.
From the instructor: "At the IWD, every workshop is a remarkable and inspiring experience. I was thrilled and moved by the performance the participants exhibited last June."
