Initiative for Women with Disabilities

The Initiative for Women with Disabilities Elly and Steve Hammerman Health & Wellness Center, is a multi-disciplinary center committed to providing respectful, high-quality gynecological, medical and wellness services for women and adolescent girls with physical disabilities. 

This unique Center empowers women with physical disabilities to pursue a healthy lifestyle.  Heath and wellness is central to all IWD components including mind-body physical therapy, nutrition consultation, exercise/fitness classes and social work services.

• Our center is completely wheelchair accessible and includes an accessible GYN table and scale.
• In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, our programs may help prevent osteoporosis, heart diseases, and musculoskeletal pain.
• Our therapies may reduce the likelihood of developing secondary complications such as arthritis and contractures.
